Law, Technology and Development

University of Strathclyde Law School & Fudan University Law School Conference, Glasgow, 11 November 2014

EU China relations are currently focused on a wide spread of topics: trade and investment; cooperation in international affairs; people, education and exchanges; environment; energy; and human rights. The planned conference will not look at all aspects of EU China relations, but will consider current and future relations through the prism of “Law, Technology and Development”. In particular, “technology” can be seen as a driver for China’s future development. The conference will explore how technology is regulated in China and whether the EU can provide any good practice for a more sustainable development in China. The conference will also provide the opposite trajectory and seek to identify where Chinese development may provide interesting lessons for a stifling European economy.
